Victoria’s work-from-home legislation could significantly change how employers manage flexible work. At a recent Spaceful and Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) event in Melbourne, business, legal and workplace relations leaders discussed what the changes could mean in practice and what businesses should be considering now.

Spaceful and Morson Edge supported Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia)’s student-run coffee van at 321 Kent Street, giving Autistic students practical work experience in a real workplace. The event also highlighted a broader question for businesses: how can workplace design better support neurodivergent employees and create environments where more people can do their best work?

The 2026 Spaceful Workplace Summit brought together more than 200 senior executives, workplace decision-makers and industry leaders to explore the forces shaping work in 2026 and beyond.

The key takeaway was that workplace strategy needs to become more intentional, more measurable and more closely aligned to business performance. 

For National Reconciliation Week, Spaceful joined a cultural awareness and reconciliation training session with Sharnee. The session explored shared history, everyday reconciliation and the role we each play in creating respectful, inclusive workplaces.

With businesses under pressure to make smarter decisions about space, cost, culture and employee experience, the workplace has become a more strategic consideration. At the AFR Workforce Summit 2026, Spaceful asked attendees, “What is the most disruptive thing about your office?”

While much of the current workforce conversation is focused on AI, hybrid work and productivity, the results show that many organisations are still dealing with basic workplace issues that affect people every day.

This initiative honours the Connectors, ASIST workers and volunteers who support mental health and open conversations about wellbeing throughout the construction industry.
