Spaceful is relocating to our new Sydney office in the historical CBD this spring, and as part of our “Spaceful is moving” series, we are showcasing our commitment to a superior delivery process. We approached the construction phase of our own project with the same rigorous standards we apply to every client project.
Site set up and safety
Spaceful prioritises safety above all else—no job proceeds without ensuring it can be conducted safely. To safeguard our teams, clients, and stakeholders on every project, we develop a comprehensive site establishment plan. This plan outlines the safety guidelines and the setup of the site, including the placement of compliant signage, site offices, well-maintained amenities like the lunch area, and locations for power boards, fire trolleys, and designated material storage areas. The primary objective is to maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
Delivering on technical challenges
Our technical teams and engineers are engaged from the outset to proactively address potential issues before the build phase begins. Conducting thorough building due diligence and site inspections is essential for accurately assessing site conditions and constraints.
This early integration of technical and engineering expertise is what sets Spaceful apart. It allows us to identify potential challenges from the initial brief and technical documentation, which are then rigorously reviewed even before site inspections take place.
As a result, when due diligence is conducted on-site, we achieve a more precise understanding of site conditions and constraints. This process not only enhances efficiency but also ensures that the vision presented to any client is accurately delivered.
Technology and site communication
Spaceful actively leverages innovative technology to monitor project progress, ensure quality, safety, and communication, and to maintain a comprehensive library of detailed construction footage throughout a project.
Effective communication between project teams is essential to maintaining a safe and cohesive work environment. Upon entering any Spaceful site, safety is immediately reinforced through mandatory site inductions and daily sign-ins. Our Site Managers use our software to conduct toolbox talks, ensuring clear and consistent communication of safety protocols, site updates, and hazard information to all onsite workers.
To facilitate effective collaboration, Spaceful provides a dedicated site meeting room for each project, supporting weekly trade and client meetings. This space allows the team to discuss weekly reports, review site progress, and document meeting minutes in person.
Design integration
At Spaceful, we redefine the collaboration between design and construction teams, from initial concept to final delivery. Our process starts with comprehensive engagement from the very beginning, ensuring a seamless integration between design and construction phases. Regular site visits by our team help bridge the gap between concept and execution.
We are also committed to rigorous quality control, ensuring that the design vision is consistently upheld throughout the project. This is supported by detailed 3D renders and models that enhance visualisation.
Transparency is one of our core strengths at Spaceful, and active participation in trade meetings and client PCGs onsite fosters clear communication and collaboration among all stakeholders. Streamlined communication within the delivery team allows us to address challenges promptly and efficiently.
Offsetting risk with consultants
Assembling a well-rounded and experienced consultant team is essential for efficiently planning and delivering projects while mitigating time, cost, and quality risks. As project managers, our primary responsibility is to act in the best interests of our clients and bring their vision to life. However, effective communication with other stakeholders is equally critical. This includes meeting landlord requirements and obligations, as well as coordinating with other tenants and contractors who may be working within the building. Ultimately, our goal is to provide a reliable, trustworthy service that ensures every aspect of the project is handled with expertise and care.
