Spaceful’s Engineers Australia Melbourne project has been awarded Silver at the 2026 BETTER FUTURE Melbourne Design Awards.
The project saw Engineers Australia move into a new Melbourne workplace designed to support its people, members and the broader engineering community. The 1,980sqm single-floor workplace consolidates teams previously split across two levels, creating a more connected, efficient and flexible environment.
For Engineers Australia, the brief called for a workplace that could do more than support day-to-day work. The organisation needed a Melbourne hub that could strengthen member engagement, host industry events and better reflect the role engineering plays in shaping modern society.
“Engineers Australia’s Melbourne workplace needed to feel connected to the profession it represents. The design was about creating a clear sense of place, one that supports the everyday needs of its people while also giving members and industry a more engaging reason to come together.”
Spaceful’s design response brings workplace, member and event functions together in one flexible setting. Focus areas, collaboration spaces, meeting rooms and event zones are planned to support different modes of work, while creating a more intuitive experience for staff and visitors. The result is a workplace that helps Engineers Australia operate more effectively, while providing a stronger destination for members and the wider engineering community.
Recognition from BETTER FUTURE reflects the value of design that responds to real business needs. For Spaceful, the project is a strong example of how workplace strategy, design and delivery can come together to support people, performance and long-term organisational goals.
