Three Spaceful Projects Awarded Silver at the World Design Awards 2026

Date | January 29, 2026

As organisations continue to rethink how and where work happens, three Spaceful workplace projects have been awarded Silver at the World Design Awards 2026, presented by Better Future. Recognition for Pacific National, Lockton and Spaceful’s own Sydney HQ highlights Spaceful’s consistent, strategy-led approach to workplace design that delivers measurable business outcomes.

The World Design Awards celebrate projects that demonstrate innovation, functionality and long-term value across the built environment. For Spaceful, this recognition reinforces the role of workplace design as a strategic business tool, not just an aesthetic outcome.

Awarded projects

Spaceful Sydney Headquarters

Designed as both a working studio and a living case study, Spaceful’s Sydney headquarters was guided by the same data-driven workplace strategy applied to our client projects. The relocation supported team growth, hybrid work patterns and the need for a high-performing client destination in the CBD.

Key outcomes included:

  • A multisensory design approach incorporating acoustics, lighting, materiality and technology
  • A flexible, future-ready layout supporting focus, collaboration and client experiences
  • Strong sustainability alignment, including recycled materials, low-VOC finishes and an ESD peer review aligned with the building’s 5 Star Green Star and NABERS ratings

Lockton Pacific Region Headquarters

Following multiple relocations and costly reactive planning, Lockton engaged Spaceful to deliver a long-term, scalable headquarters solution. The project combined workplace strategy, property advisory, design and construction to break the relocation cycle and reposition the business within Sydney’s financial district.

Key outcomes included:

  • Future-proofed capacity planning aligned to 7–10 years of growth
  • Strategic lease exit and negotiation that funded the full fit-out
  • A high-performance workplace designed to drive office attendance and support an inter-generational workforce
  • Integrated technology and acoustic zoning to support focus, collaboration and client engagement

Pacific National Headquarters

Pacific National partnered with Spaceful to consolidate a fragmented four-floor workplace into a connected, agile two-level headquarters that would actively support collaboration, culture and engagement.

Key outcomes included:

  • Strong cultural storytelling celebrating Pacific National’s rail heritage
  • Agile work settings supporting diverse work styles across a 24/7 operation
  • Removal of physical silos through a central interconnecting staircase
  • Delivery within a fixed budget and tight program, aligned with sustainability targets

Across all three projects, the common thread was a commitment to data-led workplace strategy, measurable business outcomes, and long-term flexibility and value. Each workplace was designed with sustainability and wellbeing front of mind, while supporting how people actually work, balancing focus, collaboration, movement and connection to create environments that perform for people and organisations.

Michael Spinoglio, Design Director at Spaceful, said:

“This recognition reflects the impact of designing spaces that are purposeful, intuitive and aligned to the way modern teams work. Across each project, design was used as a tool to shape behaviour, support performance and bring culture to life, from how people move through the space to how they focus, collaborate and connect. It’s a powerful acknowledgement of what strategic, human‑centred design can achieve.”
