On 14 October, we welcomed guests to the Melbourne launch of Spaceful’s Workplace Insights Report 2027: Presence with Purpose, exploring a key question facing organisations today: how do you make office time valuable?
Spaceful’s Design Director Michael Spinoglio shared findings from the latest research, which surveyed 200 Australian business leaders and 1,000 office workers.
One of the central findings highlighted a gap between attendance expectations and employee experience. While 66% of C-suite leaders are encouraging or requiring more workplace attendance, only 38% of employees say their workplace days always have a clear purpose.
From research to real-world challenges
The presentation sparked a discussion among leaders and managers in the room about the challenges of managing different generations, expectations and workplace behaviours.
How do organisations establish shared expectations while recognising that people have different needs and ways of working?
The conversation reinforced a central theme of the report: making office time valuable depends as much on people, leadership and behaviours as it does on the physical workplace.
We were also joined by Kristian Muhllechner, Group Sales Director at JCDecaux Australia & New Zealand, who shared a client perspective on the thinking behind JCDecaux’s new Melbourne workplace as the project moves towards construction.
Thank you to Kristian and everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussion.
